What if I told you that while doing some Christmas shopping this year you could help support a refugee? It makes Christmas shopping that much more special, doesn’t it?
I am so excited to be able to share with you guys a local shop and studio that makes beautiful handbags, dopp kits, computer cases, clutches, and so much more using new upcycled materials. These are one of a kind, handmade, and absolutely gorgeous items.
For my local Glen Ellyn friends, Re:new is located at 483 N. Main. Downtown and across the street from Jayne.
Behind the beautiful work is a story of hope, community and love. Re:new is not only a retail store but a place for women to receive sewing classes and take English lessons in hopes of getting a job as an artisan. These women have been given a second chance at life. Most of them fled some pretty horrific pasts in their respective countries. Since 2009, more than 150 refugee women have received training or employment at Re:new.
I am telling you friends, this store is a hidden gem! I was blown away at the beautiful products these women make in the studio. It was so wonderful to get a behind the scenes tour and to meet the artisans. For my readers who are not local, good news….Re:new is online at www.renewproject.org.
You can even design your own handbag. This promotion runs during the Holidays and Mother’s Day. Stop by and meet the Artisans and designers and pick from thousands of fabrics to create your own custom bag.
Enjoy some of my favorites from the store that I got a chance to photograph for you guys!
Traveling for the weekend? The weekender bag comes in a few different patterns.
A few other great products you can get at Re:new.
When you carry one of the Re:new bags, you will #carrythestory. Your bag represents hope, love, and fresh start for these women.
There is also a place online for you to donate to this amazing mission. So hop on over to http://www.renewproject.org and treat yourself or a loved one to a one of a kind gift and #shopwithapurpose.
