Hello guys!!! Welcome to my first post on my blog!! I’m excited you are here!!
I am so excited to show you our mudroom/laundry room makeover. This is the room we come through millions of times a day!! Ok, maybe I am exaggerating a little, but when you have 4 kids and a dog, it sure feels like a million! 🙂
It’s easy to think, its just a mudroom/laundry room and that is the last place I am going to decorate or spend my money. But most people use mudrooms as their main entrance into their house and if its also your laundry room, well, we all know how much time we spend there!!
After countless hours searching wallpaper websites, I knew that was the way I wanted to go.
I chose the peel and stick paper at Target from the Devine collection. Super affordable and I love the buffalo check!! If you haven’t done peel and stick, its really not hard! I will be writing a blog post on some of my fav peel and stick paper and some tips I have learned from doing it! Stay tuned for that post!

We have 6 hooks for our family to use for backpacks, purses, and hats. Across from the bench and hooks is our washer and dryer. I knew that wall needed something but I didn’t want to continue the wallpaper behind the appliances. Beadboard is the material the builder used to create the wall of hooks so we continued that same material around the room. This gave the room a more finished look by using the same material.
So let’s take a look at the before pics of the room!
This is the entry into the house from outside. Unfortunately, in Chicago we don’t have attached garages. It was something I for sure had to get used to when we moved here! The biggest bonus I think is seeing the front of houses and not having to see the garage. I think a house is so much prettier without a garage as part of the house!! Don’t you?
It’s not a huge room but it does the trick! It is right off our kitchen which was another reason to make it pretty!
This view is looking into the room from the kitchen. Unfortunately, I think these are the only two pictures I got before I got going on the makeover! I need to get better at those before pictures!! 😉
The wall with the cute window is used for our command center. This area keeps all important papers! I love the hanging baskets I found from Hobby Lobby! It actually has 4 baskets…seems like most times you only find 3!
I decided to paint the interior of the door that heads out to the driveway to add a little bit of color to the room. I LOVE it. So glad I did. I used the color Palladian Blue from Benjamin Moore. It is the prettiest soft blue/green. Which then lead me to painting my bulletin board that was a turquoise before. It looks so much better now that it matches the door. The bulletin board is a TJ Maxx find from years ago.
Enjoy the after photos!!
Obviously this is not how it looks day to day!! This is IG beauty (above) and this is reality (below)…..
Ok…not TOTALLY reality. Usually there are some dirty socks on the bench, maybe a water bottle or two but I do try to keep it picked up most of the time! The adorable sign “adventure awaits” is from Niki at Carpenter Farmhouse on Etsy. She has the cutest shop and the most adorable signs. http://www.carpenterfarmhouse.etsy.com/
I debated on the baskets. I had these adorable grey dipped ones home once, returned them and then decided they were the ones I wanted! 😉 Anyone else that indecisive sometimes??!! lol At first I thought they were too short. But in the end, I just loved the dipped grey on them! I will link them here!
In past homes I never had a pretty laundry room. WHY NOT people?? Right!! As moms we spend way too much time in these little rooms….why not make it beautiful?!
