Self esteem. Attachment. Insecurity. Acceptance. These are all things my sweet daughter is struggling with.
This past week I met Mayleigh’s new therapist she will be seeing weekly. Through play therapy we will be working on some of these issues that she struggles with. As a result of being abondoned and living in an orphanage for 18 months, Mayleigh has very insecure attachments. This leads to struggles with behavior issues, anxiety, and difficulty regulating her emotions.
I’m hoping these one on one activities that we are doing weekly will help secure our relationship even more and help May to feel more connected.
I have shared in the past how much she doesn’t like that she looks different. Well, she is loving the matching outfitts and being just like me!
After the boys went to school last Friday we headed to get our mud masks, cucumber, nail polish, and of course Starbucks because we had a spa date planned!!
Mud masks went on first!! She loved checking herself out in the mirror!! Lots of giggles! In order to get cucumbers to stay on we had to lay down and relax. Which I have to say was quite wonderful!! May couldn’t figure out what the cucumbers were for! Some day girl when you grow up you will want to help take the puffiness away too! lol
I could have laid there for at least 30 min but she only lasted a few min!! 🙂 She wanted to get right to the nail painting!
Somebody else wanted to join in on the spa day!
Fingers and toes were painted with pink and blue sparkles and our skin was silky smooth from the mask! Next up was probably May’s favorite part…putting on a little makeup! She asks a lot to put my makeup on so when I told her we could, she was thrilled!! Lipstick is her favorite part!!
These moments are the moments I pictured for years as I prayed about God finding me my daughter! I’m so thankful for this precious gift, she pushes me to a be a better person everyday!
